Therapy for a healthier self, right here on the Upper East Side
I'm Alyssa Bree, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in eating disorder recovery, body image concerns, and trauma.
Before starting Upper East Therapy, I spent three years as a primary therapist in a specialized day treatment program, working with individuals navigating eating disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and complex trauma.
My therapeutic style is best described as warm and frank. My goal is to help you make meaningful progress toward whatever brings you to therapy. I'll listen with openness and humility, offer honest feedback, and draw on evidence-based approaches to help you develop new perspectives and practical skills. Throughout our work together, we'll stay focused on what matters most to you.
Therapy is a significant investment of time, energy, and resources, and it’s important to make that time count. That's why I offer full 60-minute, in-person sessions on the Upper East Side, giving us the space to reflect, work through challenges, and build lasting change.
Therapeutic Approach
I have specialized training and experience with the following therapy modalities:
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for eating disorders and for OCD
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and other trauma disorders
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) for supporting a loved one with a mental disorder
I use these approaches in tandem with various other modalities, which primarily include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive and Behavioral interventions.
